FAQ's

What does Rx stand for?

Rx is a play on the latin word meaning recipe.  We believe in making beautiful clean fragrances that everyone will love with sustainability and price in mind.

Who makes your products?

We are a sister owned and operated small business. We have the owners, Jennifer and Jocelyn, and employees who work at our pop-ups.  Jesse, is our only full time employee.  He helps us with day to day operations, and you can also buy from him at Smorgasburg every Sunday in DTLA.  Our fragrances are all blended in house.  We then use our fragrances in all of our products.  Our whole collection is vegan, cruelty-free, and phthalate-free, and all of our candles are made with 100% non GMO soy wax.  In addition, all of our product ingredients are chosen with care and are made in the USA.

What is your return policy?

We love all our products and stand by them!  We offer returns on unused products within 30 days of the confirmed delivery of your package.  Please visit the return policy page for more information.

What does it mean to flip the diffuser reeds?

When properly cared for, our diffusers are meant to last a minimum of six months.  They should ideally be placed one per room, and out of direct heat or sunlight. The reeds are made of natural rattan which soak up the fragrance and allows it to evaporate into the air. Flipping the reeds around into the bottle helps release the fragrance again when the reeds may be getting clogged.

How do I get the most out of my candle?

To ensure a beautiful burn experience ensure the wick is trimmed to 1/8"  in length. This helps with making the wax melt evenly. Ensure wick is up right to ensure an even burn. If you see that the top of the wick is starting to look like a mushroom or is starting to bend over blow the flame out and trim the wick just a little before re-lighting. This will also help to keep the wax pool clear from debris.

On the first burn, the candle must be allowed to achieve a full melt pool across the top of the candle. If the candle is extinguished prior to achieving this, tunneling may occur. To ensure you achieve a full melt pool, burn your candle for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours or until all the wax has melted evenly to the edge.

Never burn for more than 4 hours, and do not leave a burning candle unattended. Candles should be placed on an even surface free of hazards.

What is the wick made of?

All of our candle wicks are constructed from all natural ring-spun cotton. They do not contain zinc, lead, or any other metals. All of our pre-tabbed candle wicks have a natural wax coating

Why do you use soy?

We use 100% soy for a number of reasons. 100% soy is natural, renewable, non-toxic, biodegradable and burns longer and at a cooler temperature than paraffin wax.  Our wax is also sourced from the USA.

What do you use to fragrance your candles?

All of our products are made with our pure fragrance oils that we blend in house.  The premium phthalate-free fragrance oils are vegan and cruelty free.  They are developed for performance in soy wax and adhere to RIFM and IFRA standards for safety and purity, and contain natural and man made materials.  For more information on our oils, please visit our blog page.

Why doesn't my candle look perfect?

With pure soy wax there can be imperfections in the way that it looks. Sometimes it looks like air bubbles and that is a completely natural feature – known in the trade as wet spots and are common in hand poured candles and are caused by the shrinkage as the wax cools inside the glass. Some of the wax pulls away from the glass and some sticks to it. This in no way affects the burning experience - your candle will still smell amazing and burn beautifully!
